Description
A large monument with carved stone panels, a man sitting on one corner. A similar monument to those shown in Thomson's negative number 1095. It has been identified as the tomb of Pierre Pigneau de Béhaine, Bishop of Adran in Turkey and Apostolic Vicar of Cochin China

This is one of a collection of same-size contact prints made, in 1981, from John Thomson's original negatives. The glass negatives, made between 1868 and 1872, were purchased from Thomson by Sir Henry Wellcome in 1921 and are now in the Wellcome Institute Library
