A critical examination of many aspects of contemporary medical practice, notably its over-reliance on high technology, the under-evaluation of many medical and surgical procedures, and the adverse side-effects of many "routine" medical and surgical interventions, both diagnostic and therapeutic. Includes extensive discussion of the ideas of the late Professor Thomas McKeown (University of Birmingham), who appears in several short interview sequences.
