About this work
Description
In 1984, after being hit by a car, 18-year-old Sarah Scantlin fell into a coma which went on for 20 years. Then in 2005 she woke up and spoke, an event which has never before happened when someone has been in a coma so long. With contributions from neurologists and others who've awoken from a coma, the documentary traces her progress and attempts to understand how conscious she might have been during the 20 years as well as what it might have been that triggered her dramatic awakening.
