On the suprise visit of Sarah Countess of Jersey to see the Duchess of Clarence, Queen Adelaide; Lady Jersey was a wealthy socialite who pretended to be a confidante of the Duke of Wellington. The references to her royal status point to her reputation as a drama queen (see DNB for details)
