About this work

Description

This episode looks at whether or not we are being too cautious in our environmental policies. For instance, following the Stewart Inquiry into mobile phone safety which found no real evidence of ill-health due mobile phone use, children were still advised to use their mobiles in moderation. Other issues covered are the BSE crisis and GM crops. Should public suspicion of scientific issues be a reason to halt the progress of new technologies? Diane Coyle and a team including policy makers and academics in the fields of risk, consumer safety and the environment, discuss these issues.
