Description
Time holds a sheet with the lettering 'Whitw..hs 1746 This day the R.(Reverend)-...his trial for High Treason'. Under his arm he holds another paper with the lettering '1763 God bless K(ing) George a sermon by...', 'An Acco(un)t of the wonderful shrop sheep shire'. Around the table before him are the words 'Jacobitism, Lowe Church, Whiggism, High Church'. The cleric standing on a pedestal in the centre of the table holds two papers with lettering: 'god bless K.13', the other is rolled and lettered 'G.3'. Below the table are five books entitled 'Avidum sua sape defudit aviditas', 'The Whole art of forgetting promises', The folly of gratitud(e)', 'Art of living', 'Treat up hemlock'; a rolled document is entitled 'miracul(eous) draug(h)t of fishes'. Beside the books two cats spar with each other. Behind them is a broken drinking vessel and a bowl with the inscription 'The real exhange'. On the wall behind are five framed pictures, one is labelled 'My parent and my friend', another depicting 'George III', hangs in front of a frame with an upside down inscription; another frame depicts a horse and is inscribed in latin; below is 'W(illia)m III'. An open window looks out onto a church spire beyond. There are three dates within the print, 1746, 1762 and 1763
