Description
The older of the two surgeons is cauterising the shoulder of the patient via a method known as "Capsula casseriana", which involves using a wooden box to hide the red-hot iron from the patient's eyes. The younger of the surgeons (on the right) is applying leeches (visible in a bowl on the table) to the patient's neck and back
