Biographical note
A medical historian, Vivian Nutton specialises in the history of the classical tradition in medicine, from Antiquity to the present, and is particularly interested in Galen. He joined the staff of the Academic Unit of the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine (later the Wellcome Centre for the History of Medicine at University College London) in 1977 and became Professor in 1993. He is currently Professor (Emeritus) at University College London.
