Description
Privilegium in arte aromataria: granted by the Justiciarii Veteres of Venice. Followed by a License to practice from the Collegio degli Aromatarii. With 4 full-page illustrations: (1) Christ in Majesty. (2) Justice seated. (3) Blazoned coat of arms of Venice, and coats of arms below of the four Justiciarii. (4) Devices of the eight members of the Collegio degli Aromatarii. The title is in gold, within ornamental decorations in gold and colours. Text in black and gold. With the signatures of the four Justiciarii: Delvisanis [?] (Angelo), Dona (Marin), Valier (Marc' Antonio], and Zorzi (Zorzi), and the eight Heads of the Pharmacy Guild: Bontempo (Joannes Baptista) ad Rosam Auream; Vincenti (Dominicus) ad Sanctum Bernardum; Fantinati (Bernardus Franciscus) ad Tria Jacula; Guadagnini (Joseph) ad Ducem; Bellini (Franciscus) ad Montem; Gorgacini (Laurentius) ad Vetulam; Tiuani (Antonius) ad Citrum Imperiale; Armano (Joannes) ad Sanctum Vitalem. The signatures of the Justiciarii are attested by Marin Francesco Valdagni, and those of the Aromatarii by Angelus Pertevoli. Produced in Venice.

No. 12' on the third leaf, and a note by him on a fly-leaf referring to this MS. which he states was given to him by Prof. G[iovanni] Carbonelli [1859-1933] who had published a short monograph on it, 'Un privilegium in arte aromataria veneto del secolo XVIII', printed at Venice in 1910 for the 'Riunione' at Venice of the Società Critica di Scienze mediche e naturali.
