Six ancient Roman sepulchral monuments carved with Latin inscriptions. Etching by G.B. Piranesi, 1762.

According to the lettering, the monuments marked with numbers 1-4 were affixed to the wall on the public highway next to the Villa Buccardi (?), no. 5 was affixed to the same wall on the side nearest the villa, and no. 6 was in the Villa Niccoli (?). No. 1 is dedicated by a son to his "mama" ("Mammae suae bene merenti"); no. 2 is dedicated by a man to his wife ("coniugi bene merenti"); no. 4 is dedicated to a child who died at the age of three years, eight months and 15 days; no. 5 is dedicated to a man by his brothers; no. 6 is dedicated by a man to his "most holy and incomparable wife" ("uxori sanctissimae et incomparabli"). On the right is a pile of ornate but broken metalwork (a vanitas motif?)
