About this work

Description

Alex Kirby investigates global warming. As the world grows warmer, icecaps will melt and the sea rise, so islands like Tuvalu, and low-lying countries like Bangladesh, could be flooded. Pani La Pepper and Mrs Sajida Chaudhari both say that the larger countries like USA and UK should be prepared to take environmental refugees from flooded countries, because it is the air pollution in industrial countries which is causing the global warming. Mick Kelly, Irwin Seuss and Bill Einsen indicate several different causes of warming. The programme then concentrates on the Kyoto Protocol, the actions some government have taken to reduce emissions, and the fact that the USA, which causes 25% of the world's emissions, has refused to ratify the Protocol.
