Biographical note
[Francis] Leopold McClintock served on various Naval expeditions to the Arctic, becoming known as the Navy's expert on man-hauled sledge travel, and discovered the remains of Sir John Franklin's last expedition. He was later knighted and rose to become Admiral Sir Francis Leopold McClintock.
