About this work

Description

This film illustrates the development of locomotion in the infant through various phases from birth up to the age of 12 years using footage and descriptive intertitles using the child development observations of Arnold Gesell (1880-1961). It starts with footage of a 5 day old sheep before studying the development of walking from the newborn human onwards. At maturity, there is a brief sequence of a girl performing a gymnastic move (standing on her hands).
