About this work
Description
This thoroughly enjoyable documentary looks at the various ways in which doctors have been depicted in the movie world. It includes clips from some of the most well-known films from MASH and Carry-On to Brief Encounter and One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. The clips are accompanied by critical commentary from a huge range of experts in the field of medicine and film who discuss the way the introduction of the NHS, changing attitudes to mental health and issues of feminism, for example, were reflected in the movie world.
