Description

Traces the troubled and complicated history of AZT, examining the controversies which raged during its 1986 trial, which was halted due to the drug's apparent outstanding success, and which continued during the British-French Concord trial (1988-93). Investigates the accusations that the Wellcome Foundation was dominated by the profit motive in recommendaing the drug for healthy HIV people and sets out a detailed examination of the results of the clinical trials, comparing these with the published description of the results. The reporter is Gerry Northam.
