This publication describes cardiology in Barbados from the earliest beginnings, from a single piece of equipment, an Electrocardiograph machine, and a single assistant to a Department of Invasive Cardiology, with a highly successful open-heart surgical programme, and a refitting of a state of the art cardiology suite now in progress; and parallel developments in prevention, with a highly successful Heart Foundation and Cardiac Rehabilitation Centre.
