About this work

Description

This photograph shows an equine aorta, dissected at the level of the valve separating the artery from the left ventricle (bottom chamber). Nodules within the artery that are likely secondary to areas of degeneration are visible in the top half of the specimen. The cause for this is undetermined but sometimes thought to be due to prior parasite damage.
