About this work

Description

Appendix Anonymi cujusdam ad medicum judicium ab anonymo Professore conscripta pro Tractatu Homoboni Pisonis in sanguinis circulationem. Author's holograph MS. This MS. contains a violent attack on the work published by Homobonus Piso [ -1748] in 1690 on the circulation of the blood, which was strongly antagonistic to Harvey. Ramazzini accuses Piso of various errors, and defends the importance and value of Harvey's researches: though he does give the credit for the original discovery of the circulation, not to the Englishman, but to his compatriot Matthaeus Realdus Columbus [1516?-1559].
