Description
Louis XIII, with the attributes of Hercules (the club and the skin of the Nemean lion) tramples with his right foot the shield of Habsburg Spain and with his left the shield of another allied power (containing a Jerusalem cross). The French cock stands on the shield of Burgundy from which it chases away the Habsburg lion. On the ground, left, is the standard of Savoy. In the background is a battle in the Thirty Years' War. In the sky above are Louis XIII's parents both standing in chariots with the attributes of Hercules, with Marie de' Medici on the left and Henri IV on the right
