Description
Albrecht Wenzel Wallenstein (or Waldstein) 1583-1634, was a Bohemian general who, during the Thirty Years' War became commander of the imperial armies and won a series of victories, gaining the title of Duke of Mecklenburg and "General of the Baltic and Oceanic Seas". His ambition led to his dismissal in 1630, but he was reinstated to defend the empire against Swedish attack. He was defeated by Gustav II Adolph and was again dismissed. His intrigues led to an imperial proclamation of treason, resulting in his assassination at Eger by Irish mercenaries
