About this work
Description
Given that the Labour government has spent record sums on the NHS, can we see the effects of it on managers, patients and waiting lists? Panorama visits Bedford Hospital, a three-star hospital in the top 25% of NHS Trusts in England. We hear from doctors, nurses, patients and managers in order to find out what it's been like to live through New Labour's Health Service reforms. The programme also commissioned two independent national experts, John Appleby from the King's Fund, and Mike Harley from Birmingham University to carry out a performance audit of the NHS.
