A-E. Brade, Senior Lecturer at the Medical Historical Museum at the University of Copenhagen, has given some details about Harald Nymark, the illustrator, in a letter to the Wellcome Institute (dated 13.4.1981). Nymark was educated in advertising and lithography, in which he went on to work professionally for some twenty-five years. Then, as a patient at the State Psychiatric Hospital near Arhus (Jutland), he produced the series "The Small Patient", which he finished after his discharge. The Danish pharmaceutical company Lundbeck & Co. bought the series and published it in 12 languages. Nymark later worked as an illustrator for newspapers and children's books
