Literary miscellaneous diary notes

Commonplace book containing very miscellaneous notes and cuttings, with partial index, apparently compiled by a medical man in Birmingham.

First entry, 19 Apr 1848 (but there are several items of earlier date further on in the volume): "Several cases of of scarlatina have occured to me lately"; 22 Apr "Case of extreme poverty and distress", followed by similar; notes on cases of typhus.

Notes and cuttings on very miscellaneous medical and non-medical subjects, including aphorisms, quotations, observations of nature (insects, toads, birds), gardening hints, agricultural reports, politics, local affairs.
