About this work
Description
How credible are the events of "Jurassic Park" (novel by Michael Crichton, 19?, film version directed by Stephen Spielberg, 1994) in which fossil dinosaur DNA extracted from a bee preserved in amber, is used to re-create living dinosaurs on the earth? A range of experts describe the conditions necessary for this, from the extraction and manipulation of the DNA to the ecological management of a dinosaur reserve. The difficulties involved make it unlikely that any such project could come to fruition, although Stephen Speilberg who, togther with Michael Crichton, take part in the programme, does not think it impossible that this cautionary tale about the hazards of genetic engineering might be prophetic.
