About this work

Description

The cats in the bag are Lord Liverpool and Spencer Perceval. The rats scurrying away on the left have the faces of Erskine, Moira, Derby and Whitbread, among others. Two other rats, one resembling Cobbett, are in a trap inscribed "Gibbs patent rat trap" and are guarded by a bull-dog. In the background is a gibbet with three nooses. A draped woman aloft in a cloud holds a wreath
