About this work

Description

The drawing and its pair apparently refer to the war memorial in the Marktplatz at Prien am Chiemsee, Bavaria, including a sculpture of Saint Catherine of Alexandria sculpted by Friedrich Lommel in 1923. That figure of Saint Catherine is similar to the present figure of Germania, though there are also many differences. The Lex Heinze was a German law passed in 1900 forbidding unseemly or obscene representations in public places
