Lettering
I will not tell you, what has been but too often repeated, that the night-cap, waistcoat, and stocking, will at times supersede every other bandage. ... J. Bell delt.
Lettering continues: "I must rather remind you, that, as a general doctrine, this is quite opposite to the principlesl which I have laid down. It is a way of speaking that savours too much of that slovenly practice in which poultices, fomentations, filth and rottenness, and diseases, go hand in hand. The night-cap, waistcoat, and stocking, supersede no bandage; they are only useful where bandages are not required."
