Vale delin. ; Grignion & Canot sculp Lettering continues with verses: Thro' various wilds and scenes by fortune tost / Few share her smiles, whilst multitudes are lost: / All own her power, the lowly and the great, / But to conduct the slighted orphans fate. / See where the pious guardians publick care / Protects the babe and calms the mothers fear / Inspired by bounty, raises blest retreats / Which fortune dooms, but charity compleats. ; To his Grace John Duke of Bedford; this plate is humbly inscrib'd ; by his Grace's most dutiful and obedient servant Margrett Granville.
