About this work
Description
Geneticist Steve Jones explores the relation between science and the novel. Fiction science, as he calls it, has been the theme of many novels, such as George Eliot's 'Middlemarch', Charles Kingsley's 'The Waterbabies' and Aldous Huxley's 'After Many a Summer'. The programme includes recordings of Huxley talking about his grandfather, Thomas Henry Huxley, the founder of Imperial College London, who encouraged scientists to study art, literature and music.
