About this work

Description

Postcard showing Fred Roper standing behind a car (PU 565) in front of the wrought iron gates of a large, stone-built, ivy-covered house. 10 of the midgets are standing in a row in front of the car, all in Winter overcoats and hats. A further 2 faces can be seen inside the car. The card would probably have been sold as a souvenir at places where they were exhibited as part of a 'freak' or variety show. The inclusion of 'British' implies that the card was produced for the American tours.
