About this work
Description
First Interview, the start of recovery. Part 1 of 2, Melvyn Bowler, the therapist, demonstrates the approach used to help Elisabeth, the mother of a drug abuser, Anna, start to overcome the emotional pain connected with her daughter's drug abuse, and to take the first steps in helping her daughter to become more responsible. Elisabeth has an unidentifiable Eastern-European accent - her confusion about her daughter's behaviour is palpable, although it is not immediately obvious that there is an issue with drugs. The therapist's active-directive approach means that the mother is able to receive immediate benefit. The referral sequence is of particular value. Suitable for counsellors, parents and alcohol and drug abuse workers.
