About this work
Description
"Baron Michel de Trétaigne" was a former army doctor, called Jean-Baptiste-Léon Michel, who received the barony of Trétaigne from Napoleon I. In 1811 he acquired a house in Montmartre called the Boule d'Or, where his "Galerie" (collection of paintings) was situated. In 1855-1859 he was mayor of Montmartre. The house was demolished in 1903 and the new Rue de Trétaigne was named after him.
