Notes
"Unica Zürn (1916-1970) has come to be recognised as an artist and writer of unusual power ove rthe last few decades... due to the careful preservation of her work y her partner Hans Bellmer. He played a pivotal role in Zürn's life, it was when she came to Paris to live with him that she first encountered Henri Michaux, whose resemblance to a fantasy figure of her childhood, "The man of jasmine", was so intense that it gradually undermined her mental stability. The house of illnesses, although composed shortly after this meeting, during a fever caused by jaudice, is a work of the imagination, albeit one that seems to predict all too accurately her subsequent fate. The present publication is a complete facsimile of the manuscript, interleaved with an English translation"--Back cover.
