This ephemera (mostly from London and southeast England) was used by Ben Zuber Swanson in his 1987 thesis (University of London): 'Methods and media of dental advertising, ca. 1700-1921, with a catalogue of the dental advertising ephemera in the Wellcome Institute Library including a scrapbook entitled "Dental memoranda" collected by T. Purland, 1844'.
