The book was a copy of Alexander Schmidt's 'Shakespeare : Lexicon'. Its loss was related by Osler in the introduction to the 'Bibliotheca Osleriana'. The story was retold by E.A. Collard in a Montreal newspaper in 1975, and as a result, the book was found
