Description
Tractatus de corde, 1669. Two drafts of a translation into English by Kenneth James Franklin, F.R.S., F.R.C.P. [1897-1966]: with 'A comparison of editions', and extracts from the fourth edition. Translator's holograph MSS. The two single volumes are mostly in Latin. These MSS. contain the text only, without the illustrations or the translator's preliminary biographical and bibliographical matter, included in the printed book. Produced in Oxford.

Biographical note
The translator was tutor and lecturer in physiology at Oriel College, Oxford, when he began his first English version of Lower's treatise, the importance of which is second only to those of William Harvey. The translation was published at Oxford in 1932, as Vol. IX of R. T. Gunther's 'Early Science in Oxford'.
