About this work
Description
The first in a two-part series by Armand Marie Leroi exploring what it is that makes us human. Here, he focuses particularly on brain size and visits Indian microcephalics and looks at the history of how we've understood intelligence by measuring the brain. We also revisit the practise of lobotomy and hear about how important theory of mind is in separating us from other intelligent animals such as primates. The role our large frontal cortex plays in our very sociable existence is examined as is the possibility of genetically altering the mental capabilities of our future children.
