About this work
Description
Since the 1950s doctors have continuously researched people's health and lifestyle. In the third of a four-part series, Richard Hannaford examines the results of these epidemiological studies. This part focuses on the causes, progression and potential cure of dementia. With people living longer nowadays, many of us feel that memory loss and dementia are inevitable. There are many forms of dementia and it is a difficult condition to research as there are also many different factors responsible for its development. Here, Hannaford goes in search of what we do know about dementia and what we need to findout in order to provide better services for our ageing population. In the process he speaks to sufferers of dementia and specialists working with and researching the field.
