Lettering continues: "This school founded by the pious and memorable Prelate Parker, Archbishop of Canterbury, having through the lapse of time become decayed and ruinous, this building was erected in its stead for the greater encouragement of learning A.D. 1847. And this plate is by permission dedicated with every feeling of respect and esteem to the Archbishop of Canterbury, visitor of the school. by his grace's most obedient and faithful servant - the architect"
