Acu-moxa chart: Renmai (Director Vessel), Chinese MS, Qing

Renmai (the Director Vessel, often translated as Conception Vessel) is one of the Eight Extraordinary Channels (Qi jing ba mai). It originates at the huiyin point in the perineum,and terminates at the chengjiang (Receiving Fluids) point on the lower lip. Acu-moxa locations on this channel include huiyin (Convergence of Yin), qugu (Curved Bone), zhongji (Middle Pole), guanyuan (Pass to the Origin), shimen (Stone Portal), qihai (Sea of Qi), yinjiao (Yin Intersection), shuifen (Watershed), xiawan (Lower Cavity), jianli (Strengthen the Interior), zhongwan (Middle Cavity), shangwan (Upper Cavity), juque (Great Watchtower), jiuwei (Turtledove Tail), zhongting (Central Courtyard), danzhong (Chest Centre), yutang (Jade Hall) and chengjiang (Receiving Fluids). According to current teaching, pathological changes in this channel cause hernias in men, gynaecological disorders in women, swellings in the abdomen (fuzhong jiekuai), etc.
