Description
A magazine insert probably from the 1890s (which has been removed from the journal it originally appeared in). It was published by the Edwards' Harlene Company of 95 & 96 High Holborn, London, W.C. and advertised Edwards' 'Harlene' shampoo which was supposed to restore the hair and stop it falling out, promote hair growth, strengthen the roots, remove dandruff and render the hair beautifully soft. The front is a colour image of a young woman in a full length blue and white striped nightdress, combing out her knee length brown hair in front of a large dressing table surrounded by curtains. A young, blondE girl gazes on. The reverse is captioned, Edwards' "Harlene" for the hair and shows line illustrations of a bearded man and a woman's head, both with much hair.
