About this work
Description
This documentary looks at the importance of the first 60 minutes following a serious accident; what medics call The Golden Hour because it can mean the difference between life and death or full recovery and major injury. The programme re-enacts an accident experienced by Lee Cherry when a fence post smashed through his car windscreen and straight into his chest. The story is pieced together from eye witness accounts, the emergency services and hospital staff. Efforts to get him to hospital involved 168 people and cost an estimated £1.5 million.
