Description

Transmission electron micrograph of a single yeast cell, produced by freeze fracturing and etching. Freeze fracture and etching is a technique used to break a frozen specimen to reveal details on internal structures that were originally hidden. Using this technique, ridges in the plasma membrane of the yeast cell are revealed here. Width of image is 2 micrometres.
