A group of compassionate police officers in Vancouver, Canada, started documenting their work on the streets, with long-term addicts, to create a powerful tool to prevent drug use among young people. This resulted in an unusual relatonship between the police and the addicts in the downtown area. The result is a hard-hitting and raw documentary showing, for example, a comatose man who is revived by paramedics. There is a particularly gruesome example of a female addict who has systematically picked at her skin to remove imaginary bugs whilst using drugs. The video gives addicts a chance to talk openly about who they are and how they came to where they are now. There are examples of addicts going through psychotic episodes on the streets. Through their participation they want to stop others from joining their nightmare. The police officers talk a lot about the influence of having an addictive personality.
