Description
Textile merchant: director of the Bradford firm of A. and S. Henry & Co., and one of the chief authorities on the worsted trade. Philanthropist for education and other good causes in Bradford. The family interest in the firm of A. and S. Henry was represented by Mitchell Henry (1826-1910), its chairman until 1893, who was also a consulting surgeon and Liberal politician. However he spent much of his time in Manchester, Ireland and Leamington Spa, while his director Sir Henry Mitchell, who was unrelated, was based in Bradford
