About this work
Description
This programme looks at how women had their babies in the 1990s. Pregnant women in the Somerset and Avon areas are interviewed about how they are treated by the doctors and nurses and what their birth plans are. A home birth is shown and the pros and cons of home births are discussed. Episiotomies, natural tearing and stitches are also discussed; women often say they are more comfortable without stitches. The potential benefits of scans and ultrasounds are also talked about.
