About this work

Description

According to Hunter in Evelyn (op. cit., p. 48) a vegetable called the Scythian lamb or Tartarian lamb "has something like four feet, and its body is covered with a kind of down. Travellers report that it will suffer no vegetable to grow within a certain distance of its seat. Sir Hans Sloan read a memoir upon this plant before the Royal Society ; for which consult their Transactions, no. 245, p. 461"
