Dudgeon, Gerald Cecil (1867-1930)

Sketch-book containing water-colour drawings of West African butterflies, etc. With a list of butterflies seen in Northern Nigeria. Author's holograph MS. At the end there are a few pencilled figure-drawings.

Purchased 1931.

The butterfly sketches were made during the author's five tours between 1905 and 1910, as Superintendent - afterwards General Inspector - of Agriculture for British West Africa under the Colonial Office.
