About this work
Description
One in 1000 children born in Britain will be profoundly deaf. This programme looks in some depth at British sign language, how it varies from region to region, and how it is evolving as younger people, particularly children, invent new signs for contemporary things. Much attention is paid, in general, to the acquisition of language in infants both hearing and deaf.
