About this work

Description

Transmission electron micrograph showing the assembly of type II collagen molecules into long fine filaments and crystallites in vitro. The crystallites are formed by collagen molecules lining up in register rather than with the one quarter stagger that exists in crossbanded fibrils. These crystallites are approximately 225nm long.
